“What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters, compared to what lies within us.”
- Ralph Waldo Emerson
Tenille Zekas is a Registered Psychologist with over 20 years of experience helping individuals and couples navigate life’s challenges.
Her diverse background spans public, private, and community settings, allowing her to approach each client with a broad, well-rounded perspective on mental health and emotional well-being.
At Elysian House Psychology, Tenille provides a compassionate space where you will feel truly seen, heard, and understood, while also empowering you to make lasting, positive changes in your life. Tenille believes that true healing occurs within the context of meaningful, authentic connections. Therapy is not just about understanding thoughts or behaviors in isolation, but about exploring how they interact with your relationships, your life experiences, and your core values. By focusing on the interconnectedness of mind, body, and relationships, Tenille works with you to discover pathways to healing, growth, and deeper connection, both with yourself and others.
Tenille is passionate about helping clients engage in their lives authentically, with purpose, and a strong sense of self. In her work, she creates a warm and intuitive space where individuals and couples feel empowered to embrace their vulnerabilities and explore personal growth. Tenille’s approach is holistic, predominantly attachment-based, and relational, drawing on evidence-based psychological interventions such as Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Circle of Security (certified facilitator), Compassion-Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and the Gottman Method (for couples).
Additionally, Tenille integrates her training and long-term practice of yoga and meditation, focusing on the body-mind connection, mindfulness, and body awareness as essential tools in fostering emotional and physical well-being.

Psychological therapy is a talk-based intervention for mental health issues and concerns. Initially there will be an assessment phase (1-3 sessions) where we (client and therapist) identify what will be addressed in therapy and where we determine if there is good capacity to work together. Regular appointment times are then set in order to support commitment to the therapeutic process. Sessions generally last the standard 50-55 minutes. If you are late, the session will still finish at the scheduled time.
Tenille offers both face-to-face and Telehealth options for individual therapy sessions. Telehealth can be via phone call or videoconference.
Please note: My areas of expertise do not include domestic violence, acute suicidality, eating disorders or substance use/abuse.
The number and frequency of appointments will be discussed with you by your practitioner. This will be based on their professional opinion once they have had an opportunity to understand your treatment needs and goals. In many circumstances it can be difficult to predict a person’s response to treatment and therefor the number of sessions they may require. Your practitioner will discuss this with you prior to commencing treatment.
Tenille provides support to adults 18+. Relationship and attachment-based support for parents and caregivers with their infants is provided with parent and infant up to the age of the infant being 1yo.
If you have private health insurance, you may be able to claim from your health insurance provider. Please confirm what your entitlements may be with your provider.
Couples’ sessions are not covered by Medicare.
